How to Transfer Video From Your iPhone to a Flash Drive

Unlike iOS devices such as the iPad and iPod, the iPhone does not support Disk Mode in iTunes, which allows you to view the phone as an external storage drive in Windows. Consequently, if you want to transfer messages, music and most other data from an iPhone to your PC hard drive or a flash drive, you must purchase a third-party app. Nevertheless, you can import pictures and videos shot with the iPhone directly into Windows from the Camera Roll using the Picture Transfer Protocol, or PTP, and then copy them to a flash drive.

FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW👇👇👇👇👇

1. Close iTunes if you have not already done so.
2. Connect the USB flash drive to the computer and wait for windows to initialize it.
3. Connect the iPhone to a USB port on the computer using its data sync cable. Wait a few seconds for Windows to detect the iPhone and display a window labeled "Apple iPhone – Choose what happens with this device." Click the "Open device to view files" option. A File Explorer window opens and displays the videos from the Camera Roll on the iPhone.
4. Select the videos on the Apple iPhone that you want to move to the flash drive. You can select multiple videos by holding the "Ctrl" key as you click them.
5. Press the "Ctrl-X" keys to cut the files to the Windows clipboard. Click the "Computer" link in the navigation pane of the File Explorer window, and then double-click on the drive-letter icon for the USB flash drive.
6. Click inside the white space of the USB drive folder pane in the File Explorer window. Press the "Ctrl-V" keys to copy the files to the flash drive and remove them from the Apple iPhone.
7. Disconnect the iPhone and the flash drive from the computer.

Tips

  • If you want only to copy the files from the iPhone to the flash drive and not move them entirely, press "Ctrl-C" instead of "Ctrl-X."
  • If no AutoPlay window opens when you connect the iPhone, you can access the videos on the device from a File Explorer window. Press "Windows-E" to open File Explorer, and then click the "Apple iPhone" link in the navigation pane to view pictures and videos from the Camera Roll.

Warning

  • The above method works for all versions of the iPhone. However, you cannot use this method to move messages, music or other data from the iPhone to the computer. To move data other than pictures and videos in the iPhone Camera Roll, you must download and install an application such as AnyTrans, iPhone/iPod/iPad Transfer or iPad/iPhone/iPod Disk Mode (links in Resources).
